ಪಂಚ ಷಷ್ಟಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ

ಅಥ ಹೈಮವತೀಂ ರಾಮ ದಿಶಂ ತ್ಯಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ |
ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಅನುಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ತಪಸ್ತೇಪೇ ಸುದಾರುಣಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ! ಅಥ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ಹೈಮವತೀಂ ದಿಶಂ ತ್ಯಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಅನುಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ಸುದಾರುಣಂ ತಪಃ ತೇಪೇ ||

'Oh Rama ! Then the venerable sage left the direction of the Himalayas and moved east and performed severe penance'.

ಮೌನಂ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ವ್ರತಂ ಅನುತ್ತಮಮ್ |
ಚಕಾರ ಪ್ರತಿಮಂ ರಾಮ ತಪಃ ಪರಮ ದುಷ್ಕರಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ಅನುತ್ತಮಮ್ ಮೌನಂ ವ್ರತಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಪರಮದುಷ್ಕರಂ ತಪಃ ಪ್ರತಿಮಂ ಚಕಾರ
||

'Oh Rama ! He performed severe penance for one thousand years maintaining total silence'.

ಪೂರ್ಣೇ ವರ್ಷಸಹಸ್ರೇತು ಕಾಷ್ಠಭೂತಂ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಮ್ |
ವಿಘ್ನೈರ್ಬಹುಭಿರಾಧೂತಮ್ ಕ್ರೋಧೋ ನಾಂತರಮಾವಿಸತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಪೂರ್ಣೇ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರೇ ತು ಮಹಾಮುನಿಂ ಭೂತಂ ಕಾಷ್ಠಂ ಅಭೂತ್ | ಬಹುಭಿಃ ವಿಘ್ನೈಃ ಅಧೂತಮ್ (ಪರಂತು) ಕ್ರೋಧಃ ನ ಅಂತರಮಾವಿಶತ್ ||

'After thousand years , the body of the sage became a skeleton. Many impediment came in the way, but the sage did not become angry'.

ಸಕೃತ್ವಾ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಂ ರಾಮ ತಪ ಆದಿಷ್ಠದವ್ಯಯಮ್ |
ತಸ್ಯ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ವ್ರತೇ ಪೂರ್ಣೇ ಮಹಾವ್ರತಃ ||
ಭೋಕ್ತುಮಾರಬ್ದವನನ್ನಂ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಕಾಲೇ ರಘೂತ್ತಮ|
ಇಂದ್ರೋ ದ್ವಿಜಾತಿರ್ಭೂತ್ವಾ ತಂ ಸಿದ್ಧಮನ್ನಮಯಾಚತ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ಸ ಅವ್ಯಯಮ್ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ತಪ ಅತಿಷ್ಠತ್ |ಹೇ ರಘೂತ್ತಮ ! ಮಹಾವ್ರತಃ ತಸ್ಯ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ವ್ರತೇ ಪೂರ್ಣೇ ಅನ್ನಂ ಭೋಕ್ತುಮ್ ಆರಬ್ಧವತ್ | ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಕಾಲೇ ಇಂದ್ರಃ ದ್ವಿಜಾತಿಃ ಭುತ್ವಾ ಸಿದ್ಧಮನ್ನಂ ಅಯಾಚತ ||

'Oh Rama he continued his penance with determination. Oh Raghottama ! The determined sage having completed thousand years got ready to eat the food. At that time Indra appearing in the garb of Brahman asked for food'.

ತಸ್ಮೈ ದತ್ವಾ ತದಾ ಸಿದ್ಧಂ ಸರ್ವಂವಿಪ್ರಾಯ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತಃ |
ನಿಶ್ಶೇಷಿತೇ ಅನ್ನೇ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಅಭುಕ್ತ್ವೈವ ಮಹಾತಪಾಃ||
ನ ಕಿಂಚಿದವದ್ವಿಪ್ರಂ ಮೌನವ್ರತ ಮುಪಸ್ಥಿತಃ |
ಅಥ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಂ ವೈ ನೋಚ್ಛ್ವಸನ್ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವ||

ಸ|| ನಿಶ್ಚಿತಃ ಸರ್ವಂ ಸಿದ್ಧಂ ವಿಪ್ರಾಯ ದತ್ವಾ ನಿಶ್ಶೇಷಿತೇ ಅನ್ನೇ ಅಭುಕ್ತ್ವೈವ ಮಹಾತಪಾಃ ತಸ್ಮೈ ನ ಕಿಂಚಿದ್ ಅವದತ್ | ಅಥ ವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಂ ನ ಉಚ್ಛ್ವಸನ್ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವ ಮೌನ ವ್ರತ ಮುಪಸ್ಥಿತಃ |

'Giving all the food to that Brahman , with no food left the sage remained silent even without eating. Then without breathing he did penance for thousand years maintaining the vow of silence'.

ತಸ್ಯಾನುಚ್ಛ್ವಸಮಾನಸ್ಯ ಮೂರ್ಧ್ನಿ ಧೂಮೋ ವ್ಯಜಾಯತ |
ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ಯೇನ ಸಂಭ್ರಾಂತಂ ಅದೀಪಿತಮಿವಾಭವತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಅನುಚ್ಛ್ವಸಮಾನಸ್ಯ ತಸ್ಯ ಮೂರ್ಥ್ನಿ ಧೂಮೋ ವ್ಯಜಾಯತ | ಯೇನ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ಸಂಭ್ರಾಂತಂ ಅದೀಪಿತಂ ಅಭವತ್ ||

'As he held his breath, smoke was coming out of his head and it seemed like as though all the three worlds are being burnt'.

ತತೋ ದೇವಸ್ಸಗಂಧರ್ವಾಃ ಪನ್ನಗಾಸುರ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಃ |
ಮೋಹಿತಾಸ್ತೇಜಸಾ ತಸ್ಯ ತಪಸಾ ಮಂದರಶ್ಮಯಃ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ದೇವಃ ಗಂಧರ್ವಾಃ ಪನ್ನಗ ಅಸುರ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಃ ಸಃ ತಸ್ಯ ತಪಸಾ ತೇಜಸಾ ಮಂದರಸ್ಮಯಃ ಮೋಹಿತಾಃ ||

Then the Devas , Pannagas, Asuras and Rakshasas were stunned by the brilliance of his Tejas

ಕಶ್ಮ ಲೋಪಹತಾಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ಪಿತಾಮಹಮಥಾಬ್ರುವನ್ |
ಬಹುಭಿಃ ಕಾರಣೈರ್ದೇವ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ||
ಲೋಭಿತಃ ಕ್ರೋಧಿತಶ್ಚೈವ ತಪಸಾ ಚಾಭಿವರ್ತತೇ |
ನ ಹ್ಯಸ್ಯ ವೃಜಿನಂ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ದೃಶ್ಯತೇ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಮಪ್ಯಥ||

ಸ|| ಸರ್ವೇ ಕಶ್ಮಲೋಪಹತಾಃ ಪಿತಾಮಹಂ ಅಥ ಅಬ್ರುವನ್ | ಹೇ ದೇವ ! ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಬಹುಭಿಃ ಕಾರಣೈಃ ಲೋಭಿತಃ ಕ್ರೋಧಿತಃ ಚ |ಅಥ ನ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಂ ವೃಜಿನಂ ಅಪಿ ದೃಶ್ಯತೇ ||

They were all very much agitated and spoke to the the father of all ." O Deva ! For various reasons the great sage is able to advance his penance in spite of several attempts to disturb and make him angry. There is not even an iota of weakness or fault in him"

ನ ದೀಯತೇ ಯದಿ ತ್ವಸ್ಯ ಮನಸಾ ಯದೀಪ್ಸಿತಮ್|
ವಿನಾಶಯತಿ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ಸಂಪ್ರ ಕ್ಷುಭಿತಮಾನಸಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಯದಿ ತ್ವಸ್ಯ ಮನಸಾ ಯದೀಪ್ಸಿತಂ (ತತ್) ನ್ ದೀಯತೇ ಸಂಪ್ರ ಕ್ಷುಭಿತ ಮಾನಸಂ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ವಿನಾಶಯತಿ ||

"If the wish in his heart is not fulfilled he may destroy the three terrified worlds" .

ವ್ಯಾಕುಲಾಶ್ಚ ದಿಶಸ್ಸರ್ವಾ ನ ಚ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ಪ್ರಕಾಶತೇ |
ಸಾಗರಾಃ ಕ್ಷುಭಿತಾಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ವಿಶೀರ್ಯಂತೇ ಚ ಪರ್ವತಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ದಿಶಃ ಸರ್ವಾಃ ವ್ಯಾಕುಲಾಃ | ನ ಕಿಂಚಿ ಪ್ರಕಾಶತೇ | ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಾಗರಾಃ ಕ್ಷುಭಿತಾಃ | ಪರ್ವತಾಃ ಚ ವಿಶೀರ್ಯನ್ತೇ ||

"There is disquiet in all directions. Nothing is glowing. The oceans are getting agitated and the mountains are getting shattered".

ಪ್ರಕಂಪತೇ ಚ ಪೃಥಿವೀ ವಾಯುರ್ವಾತಿ ಭೃಶಾಕುಲಃ|
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ನ ಪ್ರತಿಜಾನೀಮೇ ನಾಸ್ತಿಕೋ ಜಾಯತೇ ಜನಃ ||

ಸ|| ಪೃಥಿವೀ ಚ ಪ್ರಕಂಪತೇ | ವಾಯುಃ ಭೃಶಾಕುಲಃ ವಾತಿ | ನಾಸ್ತಿಕೋ ಜಾಯತೇ ಜನಃ |ಹೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ನ ಪ್ರತಿಜಾನೀಮೇ ( ಕಿಂಕರವಾಮಃ ಇತಿ)

"The earth is shaking . The wind is blowing fiercely. The people are losing faith in God. O Brahman ! We are not knowing what is to be done"

ಸಮ್ಮೂಢಮಿವ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ಸಂಪ್ರ ಕ್ಷುಭಿತ ಮಾನಸಮ್ |
ಭಾಸ್ಕರೋ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಭಶ್ಚೈವ ಮಹರ್ಷೇಃ ತಸ್ಯ ತೇಜಸಾ ||

ಸ|| ಭಾಸ್ಕರಃ ತಸ್ಯ ತೇಜಸಾ ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಭಶ್ಚ ಏವ | ಸಂಪ್ರಕ್ಷುಭಿತ ಮಾನಸಂ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ಸಮ್ಮೂಢಮಿವ |

"Sun's brilliance is diminished by his (sage's) brilliance. The three worlds are petrified by the disorientation"

ಬುದ್ಧಿಂ ನ ಕುರುತೇ ಯಾವನ್ನಾಶೇ ದೇವ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ |
ತಾವತ್ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ಯೋ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಅಗ್ನಿರೂಪೋ ಮಹಾದ್ಯುತಿಃ |

ಸ|| ಹೇ ದೇವ! ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ಅಗ್ನಿರೂಪಃ ಮಹಾದ್ಯುತಿಃ ! ಯಾವತ್ ನಾಶೇ ಬುದ್ಧಿಂ ನ ಕುರುತೇ ತಾವತ್ ಭಗವನ್ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ಯೋ ||

"Oh Lord ! The great sage is a form of Agni. Before he thinks of destroying the whole world, the Lord should please him".

ಕಾಲಾಗ್ನಿನಾ ಯಥಾ ಪೂರ್ವಂ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ದಹ್ಯತೇ ಅಖಿಲಮ್ |
ದೇವರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಚಿಕೀರ್ಷೇತ ದೀಯತಾಮಸ್ಯ ಯನ್ಮತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಯಥಾ ಪೂರ್ವಂ ಕಾಲಾಗ್ನಿನಾ ತ್ರೈಲೋಕ್ಯಂ ದಹ್ಯತೇ ಅಖಿಲಮ್ | ದೇವರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಚಿಕೀರ್ಷೇತ ಅಸ್ಯ ದೀಯತಾಮ್
|
"Like the timeless fire he can burn down everything, it is better to give even the kingdom of Devas if he so desires".

ತತ ಸ್ಸುರಗಣಾಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಪಿತಾಮಹಪುರೋಗಮಾಃ |
ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ಮಧುರಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಬ್ರುವನ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಪಿತಾಮಹಪುರೋಗಮಾಃ ಸುರಗಣಾಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಮ್ ಮಾಹಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ಮಧುರಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಬ್ರುವನ್ |

'Then with the father of the worlds leading them in the front the legions of Devas spoke to Viswamitra with sweet words'.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷೇ ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ ತೇ ಅಸ್ತು ತಪಾಸಾ ಸ್ಮ ಸುತೋಷಿತಾಃ |
ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯಂ ತಪಸೋಗ್ರೇಣ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾನಪಿ ಕೌಶಿಕ ||

ಸ|| ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷೇ ! ತೇ ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ ಅಸ್ತು | ಸ್ಮ ತಪಸಾ ಸುತೋಷಿತಾಃ |ಹೇ ಕೌಶಿಕ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯಂ ಉಗ್ರೇಣ ತಪಸಾ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾನ್ ಅಪಿ ||

"Oh Brahmarshi! Welcome to you. We are happy with your penance. Oh Kausika you achieved Brahmatva with rigorous penance".

ದೀರ್ಘಮಾಯುಶ್ಚ ತೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ದದಾಮಿ ಸಮರುದ್ಗಣಃ |
ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನುಹಿ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಗಛ್ಛ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಯಥಾ ಸುಖಂ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ! ಸ ಮರುದ್ಗಣಃ ತೇ ದದಾಮಿ ದೀರ್ಘಮಾಯುಃ | ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನುಹಿ | ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ| ಹೇ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಯಥಾ ಸುಖಂ ಗಚ್ಛ ||

"Oh Brahman ! Along with all the legions of Suras we are offering you long life. May everything be auspicious with you. O Saumya ! Please go back happily".

ಪಿತಾಮಹವಚಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವೇಷಾಂ ಚ ದಿವೌಕಸಾಮ್|
ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಪ್ರಣಾಮಂ ಮುದಿತೋ ವ್ಯಾಜಹಾರ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ||

ಸ|| ಮುದಿತೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ಪಿತಾಮಹ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವೇಷಾಂ ದಿವೌಕಸಾಂ ಪ್ರಣಾಮಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ವ್ಯಾಜಹಾರ ||

'Hearing those words of the father of all worlds, delighted , Viswamitra bowed to all and spoke as follows'.

ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣಂ ಯದಿ ಮೇ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಂ ದೀರ್ಘಮಾಯುಃ ತಥೈವ ಚ |
ಓಂಕಾರಶ್ಚ ವಷಟ್ಕಾರೋ ವೇದಾಶ್ಚ ವರಯಂತು ಮಾಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಯದಿ ಮೇ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಂ ತಥೈವ ದೀರ್ಘಮಾಯುಃ ವಷಟ್ಕಾರಃ ಓಂಕಾರಶ್ಚ ವೇದಾಶ್ಚ ಮಾಂ ವರಯಂತು ||

" If I have earned Brahmatva as well as long life , you may also present me with knowledge of Vashatkara, Omkara as well as all Vedas".

ಕ್ಷತ್ರ ವೇದ ವಿದಾಂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠೋ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ವೇದ ವಿದಾಮಪಿ|
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಪುತ್ರೋ ವಸಿಷ್ಠೋ ಮಾಂ ಏವಂ ವದತು ದೇವತಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ದೇವತಾಃ ! ಕ್ಷತ್ರವೇದ ವಿದಾಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವೇದವಿದಾಮಪಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಪುತ್ತ್ರಃ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಃ ಮಾಮ್ ಏವಂ ವದತು ||

"Oh Devas ! Vasishta , the son of Brahma and knower of Kshatra Veda and Brahma Veda may also address me accordingly ( Brahmarshi!)".

ಯದ್ಯಯಂ ಪರಮಃ ಕಾಮಃ ಕೃತೋ ಯಾಂತು ಸುರರ್ಷಭಾಃ |
ತತಃ ಪ್ರಸಾದಿತೋ ದೇವೈಃ ವಸಿಷ್ಠೋ ಜಪತಾಂ ವರಃ ||
ಸಖ್ಯಂ ಚಕಾರ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿಃ ಏವಮಸ್ತ್ವಿತಿ ಚಾಬ್ರವೀತ್ |
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿತ್ವಂ ನ ಸಂದೇಹಃ ಸರ್ವಂ ಸಂಪತ್ಸ್ಯತೇ ತವ ||
ಇತ್ಯುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ದೇವತಾಶ್ಚಾಪಿ ಸರ್ವಾ ಜಗ್ಮುಃ ಯಥಾಗತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಸುರರ್ಷಭಾಃ ಯದಿ ಅಯಂ ಪರಮಂ ಕಾಮಃ ಕೃತೋ ಯಾಂತು | ತತಃ ದೇವೈಃ ವಸಿಷ್ಠೋ ಜಪತಾಂ ವರಃ ಪ್ರಸಾದಿತಃ ಸಖ್ಯಂ ಚಕಾರ || ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿಃ ಏವಂ ಅಸ್ತು ಇತಿ ಚ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್|| ತವ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿತ್ವಂ ನ ಸಂದೇಹಃ. ಸರ್ವಂ ಸಂಪತ್ಸ್ಯತೇ ಇತಿ ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ ದೇವತಾಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಯಥಾಗತಂ ಜಗ್ಮುಃ ಅಪಿ ||

"Oh Devas ! You may fulfill my wish and go !" Then the Devas pleased Vasishta the best among those who do penance to make friendship . He too said "so be it". Then Devas told Viswamitra ," There is no doubt about your Brahmarshitva. Everything will be as desired." So saying they left for their places'.

ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋsಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಲಬ್ಧ್ವಾ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ ಮುತ್ತಮಮ್ |
ಪೂಜಯಾಮಾಸ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿಂ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಂ ಜಪತಾಂ ವರಮ್|
ಕೃತಕಾಮೋ ಮಹೀಂ ಸರ್ವಾಂ ಚಚಾರ ತಪಸಿ ಸ್ಥಿತಃ ||

ಸ|| ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಉತ್ತಮಮ್ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯಮ್ ಲಬ್ಧ್ವಾ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಂ ಜಪತಾಂ ವರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿಂ ಪೂಜಯಾಮಾಸ | ಕೃತಕಾಮಃ ತಪಸಿ ಸ್ಥಿತಃ ಸರ್ವಾಂ ಮಹೀಮ್ ಚಚಾರ ||

'Viswamitra too having obtained Brahmarshitva then worshiped Vasishta. Having attained his wish he moved around the earth doing penance'.

ಏವಂ ತ್ವನೇನ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಂ ರಾಮ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಏಷ ರಾಮ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಏಷ ವಿಗ್ರಹವಾಂಸ್ತಪಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ || ತ್ವನೇನ ಏವಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಮ್| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ಏಷಃ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ| ಏಷಃ ತಪಸ್ಯ ವಿಗ್ರಹವಾನ್ ||

"Oh Rama ! he obtained Brahmarshitva in this way. Oh Rama he is best among all sages. He is an embodiment of penance."

ಏಷ ಧರ್ಮಪರೋ ನಿತ್ಯಂ ವೀರ್ಯಸ್ಯೈಷ ಪರಾಯಣಮ್ |
ಏವ ಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾತೇಜ ವಿರರಾಮ ದ್ವಿಜೋತ್ತಮಃ ||

ಸ|| ಏಷಃ ನಿತ್ಯಮ್ ಧರ್ಮಪರಃ ಏಷಃ ವೀರ್ಯಸ್ಯ ಪರಾಯಣಮ್ | ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ದ್ವಿಜೋತ್ತಮಃ ( ಶತಾನಂದಃ ) ವಿರರಾಮ ||

" He is ever committed to the righteousness. He is the most powerful one". Having said this the illustrious Brahmin Satananda became silent.

ಶತಾನಂದ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಸನ್ನಿಧೌ |
ಜನಕಃ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಂ ರ್ವಾಕ್ಯ ಮುವಾಚ ಕುಶಿಕಾತಜಮ್||

ಸ|| ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಸನ್ನಿಧೌ ಶತಾನಂದಃ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಜನಕಃ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಃ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜಂ ಉವಾಚ ||

Janaka who heard the words of Satananda in the presence of Rama and Lakshmana, bowed to Viswamitra and spoke as follows.

ಧನ್ಯೋಸ್ಮಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹೀತೋಶ್ಮಿ ಯಸ್ಯ ಮೇ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವ |
ಯಜ್ಞಂ ಕಾಕುತ್‍ಸ್ಥಸಹಿತಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾನಪಿ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಮುನಿಪುಂಗವ ! ಯಸ್ಯ ಕಾಕುತ್‍ಸ್ಥ ಸಹಿತಃ ಯಜ್ಞಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾನ್ ಅಪಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹೀತಃ ಅಸ್ಮಿ| ಹೇ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಧನ್ಯಃ ಅಸ್ಮಿ |

"Oh Best of Sages ! Coming to this sacrifice along with the scions of Kakuthstha you have honored me. O Dharmika I am truly blessed".

ಪಾವಿತೋsಹಂ ತ್ವಯಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ದರ್ಶನೇನ ಮಹಾಮುನೇ|
ಗುಣಾ ಬಹುವಿಧಾಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ ತವ ಸಂದರ್ಶನಾನ್ ಮಯಾ||

ಸ|| "ಹೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ! ಮಹಾಮುನೇ | ತ್ವಯಾ ದರ್ಶನೇನ ಅಹಂ ಪಾವಿತಃ | ತವ ಸಂದರ್ಶನಾನ್ ಮಯಾ ಬಹುವಿಧಾ ಗುಣಾ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ" ||

"Oh Brahmarshi ! with your presence I am rid of my sins. Because of your presence I am blessed with many things".

ವಿಸ್ತರೇಣ ಚ ತೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ಕೀರ್ತ್ಯಮಾನಂ ಮಹತ್ತಪಃ ||
ಶ್ರುತಂ ಮಯಾ ಮಹಾತೇಜೋ ರಾಮೇಣ ಚ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಸದಸ್ಯೈಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ಚ ಸದಃ ಶ್ರುತಾಸ್ತೇ ಬಹವೋ ಗುಣಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನ್ ವಿಸ್ತರೇಣ ಕೀರ್ತ್ಯಮಾನಂ ತೇ ಮಹತ್ತಪಃ ಮಯಾ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ ರಾಮೇಣ ಚ ಶ್ರುತಂ ||ಸದಃ ಸದಸ್ಯೈಃ ತೇ ಬಹವೋ ಗುಣಾಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯ ಶ್ರುತಾಃ ||

"Oh Brahman! The widely elaborated penance of yours has been heard by me and Rama, the best of men too. The assembly and all the members of the assembly heard your great qualities".

ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಂ ತಪಸ್ತುಭ್ಯಂ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಂ ಚ ತೇ ಬಲಮ್|
ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಾ ಗುಣಾಶ್ಚೈವ ನಿತ್ಯಂ ತೇ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜ ! ತುಭ್ಯಂ ತಪಃ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಂ | ತೇ ಬಲಂ ಚ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಮ್ | ತೇ ಗುಣಾಶ್ಚೈವ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯಮ್ |

"Oh Son of Kusika ! Your penance is unparalleled. Your power is unparalleled. Your strength is unparalleled. Your qualities are unparalleled".

ತೃಪ್ತಿರಾಶ್ಚರ್ಯಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಕಥಾನಾಂ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಮೇ ವಿಭೋ|
ಕರ್ಮಕಾಲೋ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಲಂಬತೇ ರವಿ ಮಂಡಲಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ವಿಭೋ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಕಥಾನಾಂ ತೃಪ್ತಿಃ ನಾಸ್ತಿ | ಹೇ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ರವಿ ಮಂಡಲಂ ಲಂಬತೇ | ಕರ್ಮಕಾಲಃ ಅಪಿ ||

"Oh Lord ! We cannot hear enough of this wonderful story of yours . Oh Best of Sages ! Sun is setting in his region" .

ಶ್ವಃ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಮಹಾತೇಜೋ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಮರ್ಹಸಿ ಮಾಂ ಪುನಃ|
ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ ತಪತಾಂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಮಾಮನುಜ್ಞಾತು ಮರ್ಹಸಿ ||

ಸ|| ಮಹಾತೇಜಃ ಶ್ವಃ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಮಾಂ ಪುನಃ ದ್ರಷ್ಠುಮರ್ಹಸಿ | ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ ತಪತಾಂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಮಾಂ ಅನುಜ್ಞಾತು ಮರ್ಹಸಿ ||

" Oh Great one ! Please give is permission to see you again tomorrow morning. Our welcome to you. Please give us permission".

ಏವಮುಕ್ತೋ ಮುನಿವರಃ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ಯ ಪುರುಷರ್ಷಭಮ್|
ವಿಸಸರ್ಜಾಶು ಜನಕಂ ಪ್ರೀತಂ ಪ್ರೀತಮನಾಸ್ತದಾ ||

ಸ|| ಮುನಿವರಃ ಏವಂ ಉಕ್ತಃ ಪ್ರೀತಂ ಪ್ರೀತಮನಾಃ ತದಾ ಜನಕಂ ಪ್ರಸಸ್ಯ ವಿಸಸರ್ಜಾಶು||

The best of sages having been thus requested was pleased and with pleasure praising the King Janaka , he gave them the permission.

ಏವಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ವೈದೇಹೋ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಧಿಪಃ|
ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಚಕಾರಾಶು ಸೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಸಬಾಂಧವಃ ||

ಸ|| ವೈದೇಹೋ ಮಿಥಿಲಾಧಿಪಃ ಮುನಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ಏವಂ ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಸ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯ ಬಾಂಧವಾಃ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಮ್ ಚಕಾರಾಶು ||

Having told the best of sage thus , the king of Mithila circumambulated the sage along with his entourage and left.

ವಿಶ್ವಮಿತ್ರೋsಪಿ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಸಹರಾಮಸ್ಸಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಃ|
ಸ್ವವಾಸ ಮಭಿಚಕ್ರಾಮ ಪೂಜ್ಯಮಾನೋ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಭಿಃ ||

ಸ|| ಮಹರ್ಷಿಭಿಃ ಪೂಜ್ಯಮಾನಃ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಅಪಿ ರಾಮ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ ಸಹ ಸ್ವವಾಸಂ ಅಭಿಚಕ್ರಾಮ ||

The righteous Viswamitra too having been worshipped by all other Maharshis reached his abode along with Rama and Lakshmana.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕಿಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಪಂಚ ಷಷ್ಟಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||

Thus ends the sixty fifth Sarga of Balakanda in Valmiki Ramayana.
